We are proud to have launched Thanet Counselling Services, a low cost, affordable counselling service, accessible for all in our comfortable and inviting counselling rooms in the heart of Birchington, Kent.

Thanet Counsellor Training provides nationally recognised and regulated counselling qualifications as well as continuous professional development workshops for trainee and qualified counsellors in Kent.

Thanet Counselling Services

Thanet Counselling Services aims to provide low cost, affordable counselling for all, based at our welcoming centre in Birchington.

We offer weekly, face‑to‑face fifty‑minute sessions with a professional counsellor, continuing for as long as is therapeutically appropriate and giving the flexibility you need to support your wellbeing.

Thanet Counsellor Training

Our Counsellor Training Courses are run face to face from The Cove in Birchington, a recognised training centre for the Skills and Education Group (SEG). Ranging from Level 2 to Level 6, all our courses are awarded by SEG or through their quality licence scheme (QLS).

We are committed to supporting all our learners, from trainees to fully qualified and experienced practitioners. Our inclusive learning community fosters personal development, nurturing growth and progression into a professional counselling practice.

Level 2

The Level 2 Award in Counselling Concepts is an introductory qualification designed for individuals interested in learning the fundamental principles and practices of counselling. This award is ideal for those seeking to discover whether a career in counselling is right for them, as well as for those wishing to enhance their interpersonal skills for personal or professional development.

Level 3

The Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills is the perfect entry point for anyone curious about counselling or eager to strengthen their communication skills. As a standalone qualification, it equips you with practical techniques that enhance your confidence, emotional awareness, and ability to support others. These skills are invaluable in both everyday life and a wide range of professional roles. Many learners find this course transformative, using it as a springboard into further counselling training or as a way to enrich their personal and professional relationships.

Level 4

If you are ready to take the next step towards becoming a professional counsellor, our integrative Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling offers a supportive and inspiring place to grow. Guided by Petruska Clarkson’s five relationship model, you will explore person-centred, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, CBT and attachment-informed approaches, building the confidence, self-awareness and ethical practice needed to work safely and effectively with clients.

Level 6

The Level 6 Diploma in Counselling Supervision is a professional qualification designed for experienced counsellors who wish to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to supervise other counselling practitioners.

Continuing Professional Development & Workshops

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a professional and ethical requirement for counsellors to ensure safe, effective, and legally compliant practice. CPD encompasses activities that maintain, improve, or broaden competence, knowledge, and skills, including personal and professional development and it is currently expected by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) to fulfil 30 hours a year.

At The Cove we deliver a wide variety of workshops and courses relevant to the counselling profession and general wellbeing. These will be advertised here and we welcome suggestions for what you'd like to see included for the future.

The Cove Wellbeing Centre is located at 2a Station Road, Birchington, Kent, CT7 9DQ and is easily accessible from areas such as Thanet, Broadstairs, Margate and Ramsgate.
